Students in SPIA’s undergraduate programs go on to work in government, law, nonprofit administration and more. A degree in political science or our Leadership in the Public Sector program is also a great step toward law school or other professional training. We’ll prepare you to prove to prospective employers or administrators that you know how to take a global, analytical approach to leadership.

NC Tech Association CEO Earns National Praise
Political Science alum Brooks Raiford, CEO of the NC Technology Association, has earned the national award for his advocacy on behalf of the tech sector. Raiford is a former president of the NC State student senate and former student body president.
First-generation college student Gus Gusler switched his major from engineering to political science during the turbulent 1960s, and served as NC State's student body president. These days, in addition to running his entertainment law office, he owns and operates the Players Retreat, where he worked as a cook during those undergraduate years.
