Public Administration

Biography

As a public and nonprofit management scholar specializing in publicness, my research identity focuses on organizational performance and the institutional pressures and organizational structures and practices that influence outcomes. My research agenda explores three streams of scholarship that contribute to our understanding of public and nonprofit performance: publicness, performance management at the organization-level of analysis, and nonprofit organizations. The performance management stream examines the specific measures we use in assessment and considers managers’ use of performance information. The publicness and nonprofit organization streams of research explore what, and how, structures and processes within organizations affect service delivery. These streams of research align to answer broader questions about how institutional pressures and organizational structures and practices affect service delivery and how to improve delivery in public and nonprofit organizations. Sapna completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and double majored in political science and public policy with a concentration in social justice. She completed her Master of Public Administration at East Carolina University
