Biography

Jessica Berrett is a doctoral candidate with a specialty in nonprofit management. Her disseration focuses on nonprofit financial managment, with a focus on efficiency and through the lens of performance. Other current research projects include topics such as benchmarking nonprofit performance, community nonprofit carrying capacity, the productivity of volunteers, nonprofit performance under financial restrictions, and the use of linear panel data analysis in nonprofit studies. Jessica has published her reserach in Nonprofit Management and LeadershipVOLUNTAS, and Journal of Public and Nonprofit Affairs. She is an instructor for the Department of Political Science at NCSU and has taught Introduction to Nonprofits for the last several years. Her strong commitment to the social sector is reflected in fifteen years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, management, and consulting. She is the CEO of Three Stones Consulting, a strategy firm for the social sector that she founded ten years ago. Jessica is a contributing writer for the Philanthropy Journal, a program of the Institute for Nonprofits at NC State. She holds an MBA with a focus on nonprofit management and social entrepreneurship from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado.
